Academy of Cinema and Television Collaborates with Actor Mario Lopez

(PRWEB) January 17, 2008 -- The Academy of Cinema and Television (A.C.T.), in collaboration with actor Mario Lopez, have created a DVD that will be available to the general public in February of 2008. The instructional DVD will answer parents' questions regarding concerns and perceptions of the entertainment industry as they may apply to their children. The DVD will give parents and students insight into the industry from an actor who began his career as a tween and continues to be one of Hollywood's hottest stars.

According to the Academy's Director, Jack White, the school is excited that an accomplished former child star like Mario Lopez will be addressing parents' concerns regarding the industry on the new DVD. "Mario will also share his childhood experiences as well as offer some industry insider tips," said White.

A California native, Lopez began his acting career when he appeared as younger brother, Tomì in the ABC comedy series a.k.a. Pablo. Lopez was cast as high-school jock A.C. Slater in the popular television sitcom Saved by the Bell. With his athletic build and good looks, Lopez quickly emerged as a teen heartthrob. White says, "the insights Lopez shares with A.C.T. students regarding his tween and teen years is invaluable. As a respected professional who experienced fame at a young age, yet remained active in his discipline as an adult, Lopez is an excellent example of how a child actor has used fame to his advantage and gone on to a successful show business career in adulthood."

Mario recently starred in the highest rated program in ABC family history: Holiday in Handcuffs. On Jan19th he will star opposite Mark Consuelos in the made for TV movie Husband for Hire. Lopez is a versatile talent. He has hosted radio, sports talk and women's talk shows, appeared in sitcoms and films, co-produced and starred in the independent film Outta Time, danced his way to the top in the reality series Dancing with the Stars, and is now working on his first book about fitness.

"Lopez has a genuine interest in conveying how he got started and delivers heartfelt encouragement on this DVD," says White.

A.C.T. is a private institution with cutting edge training centers that have revolutionized performance education in on-camera acting, modeling, singing and dancing.
